Woman Pleads Guilty in 'Rape Fantasy' Case

A woman pleaded guilty Tuesday -- and was immediately sentenced to five years in prison -- for framing the ex-fiancee of her now- estranged husband, a U.S. marshal, causing the victim to be wrongly arrested by Anaheim police and charged with stalking and attempted rape. Angela Maria Diaz, 32, of Phoenix, Arizona, pleaded guilty to two counts each of kidnapping, false imprisonment, forgery and possession of a forged check exceeding $950, and single counts of perjury and grand theft.

Haircut One Hundred's Nick Heyward released first solo LP in 18 years, touring

Though he's best known as frontman for the fabulously sweatered early '80s pop band Haircut One Hundred, Nick Heyward went on to an acclaimed solo career, including 1993's excellent and underrated From Monday to Sunday , and 1998's The Apple Bed . He hadn't put out a solo album since The Apple Bed , but that changed with Woodland Echoes, which came out in the UK back in August and gets a US release on November 3. His ability to write literate, effortlessly catchy guitar pop hasn't diminished at all in the last 18 years.

A 36-year-old Anaheim man was facing a felony charge on Monday for allegedly aiming a loaded, semiautomatic handgun at a police officer responding to a domestic-violence call. Anaheim police had gone to William Velasquez's home after he allegedly slapped his mother on Oct. 10, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
